Day one – Guinness Storehouse

After months of meetings, sponsoring activities and organisation, the day has come, time to go to Dublin! Unfortunately our day started with a setback, Stijn got sick and we had to go on without him. After this adventure we arrived in Dublin with (the luck of) weather and wind. Upon arrival it was very sunny, after which there were some rain showers but then everything cleared up again.

After a quick lunch and an extensive city walk, we arrived at our second cultural activity: the Guinness Storehouse. This is the famous Guinness brewery/museum/bar of Dublin. The building was very impressive and has no less than 7 floors. On the ground floor we got a short explanation of the tour and we could buy a souvenir in the shop. Next we found out what ingredients the beer contains and what the whole process from harvesting to actually drinking the beer looks like. After that we got the chance to taste the guinness beer ourselves through a quick tasting, where we could smell the different aromas and drink a small glass of Guinness. Some of us liked it, others didn’t but everyone had different taste ofcourse. 😊

Throughout the whole storehouse we could find masses of information about the origin, evolution and success of the Guinness beer. To finish, we visited the seventh floor of the storehouse, which is called the Gravity Bar where we received a free drink after the tour. This cozy rooftop bar gave us a beautiful view over Dublin as the sun went under.
