Never give up

Choosing a location for our incentive was not difficult at all. Our whole team agreed on going to Dublin sooner than I expected. That was already one obstacle cleared. We knew from the start that this trip would be a combination of culture, fun and business. What we did not expect was that the business part would not be so easy to realize.

With a lot of enthusiasm we started looking for interesting companies to visit. I immediately discovered The Convention Centre Dublin, a venue that would be interesting with regards to event management. Unfortunately they could not welcome us due to a big event at their venue.

Rumeysa started contacting all the companies our group members found. “Unfortunately, we will be unable to facilitate your request” became the most common reply. The more emails we wrote, the more we got rejected. Some of us started losing hope since our goal was to have at least two visits. And at one point we only had one possible visit planned at a company that is located completely out of the centre.

But the moral of this story is to never lose hope. We had a lot of setbacks but we struggled through and we kept looking for other possibilities. We focused on our goal to have at least two visits. When the GEC confirmed our visit we felt a little hope. With only one confirmation left, we were gaining confidence.

Our confidence turned out to be justified. Our amazing team managed to book no less than four company visits with different focuses and I am really looking forward to learning a lot from these companies. Tuesday we will visit The Guinness Enterprise Centre and Aviva Stadium. Wednesday we will be welcomed at the National Gallery of Ireland and Robert Walters Recruitment.
